Lessons Learned From Flint
Two years ago in an attempt to save 5 million dollars, Flint switched the source of the city’s drinking water to the Flint River from the City of Detroit water system. This switch to a contaminated river and improper water treatment released lead into the drinking water system. So far, it has cost over 50 million dollars to address the immediate situation with much higher costs anticipated to implement a long term solution. Please see Water Management’s brief article on the topic.
