The health of the Watershed is diminishing due to the increased level of stormwater run-off entering the water from poorly planned development in our region. Stormwater carries a host of contaminants from the land into the water: sediment, phosphorus, nitrogen, mercury, toxic metals, herbicides and pesticides, organic material, oil compounds, and bacteria. Roadways, for example, release oil and grease, tailpipe emissions, and other toxic's from motor vehicles. Lawns contribute fertilizer and animal waste.
Collecting, storing, and utilizing rainwater at your home or business is a sustainable way in helping protect your local water quality from run-off, and reduces overflow to the municipal storm sewer system.
The rainwater can be used for the following purposes:
- Providing irrigation for your, farms, landscapes or gardens.
- The filling of pools, ponds, water features, and spas.
- Washing of cars, trucks, trailers, boats, etc.
- Flushing of toilets.
- Make-up water for commercial chilling towers.
- Fire suppression systems.
